ThématiqueInterroger la notion de confort dans l’environnement urbain permet de focaliser l’attention sur notre relation aux espaces habités. Plus précisément, il s’agira dans cette école thématique de sonder la notion de confort dans des quartiers dits « innovants » et visant une transition énergétique comme celui de la Presqu’Île à Grenoble. En interrogeant et en relevant les différentes aménités d’un territoire, en identifiant ce qui relève du confort normé (visant une homogénéisation des sensations) et ce qui relève du confort sensible (visant une variation des sensations) nous ouvrirons la question des relations entre un diagnostic sensible capable de porter des intentions de conception et un aménagement urbain encore en devenir. Nous interrogerons ce territoire de l’énergie et cette question du confort par le sonore et par une exploration pédestre le long d’une traversée prédéfinie (méthode du transect). En suivant en particulier un réseau d’eau traversant la Presqu’Île, le parcours choisi permet de franchir /croiser des espaces souterrains, berges, espaces en construction et des espaces fermés massivement monitorés comme celui de “GreEn-ER”. Cette première expérience immersive permettra de découvrir une typologie sono-spatiale typique de cet endroit. Cette démarche proposée aux participants sera mise en avant par un ensemble de méthodes qui sont à croiser et qui regrouperont des approches qualitatives et quantitatives. Les participants pourront ainsi, après avoir éprouvé physiquement les caractéristiques du terrain, manipuler les dimensions sonores de l’espace à travers différentes méthodes de l’équipe Cresson-AAU : captations sonores, entretiens, modélisations numériques… Ces croisements qui couplent manipulation d’une dimension sensible immersive et analyse ou évaluation ont pour objectif de considérer les différentes manifestations du confort et de développer ainsi une conception plus holistique de cette notion. | ThemeQuestioning the notion of comfort in the urban environment focuses attention on our relationship with the inhabited spaces. In this thematic school, the notion of comfort will be investigated in the so-called "innovative" districts targeting energy transition, as is the case of the Presqu'Île in Grenoble. By identifying the various amenities of the territory, and by capturing what reveals the standardized comfort (seeking a homogenization of sensation) and what reveals the sensory comfort (searching, on the contrary, a variation of sensation), this will open a new reflection that questions the relationship between a sensory diagnosis capable of carrying prospective design intentions and an urban development model that is still evolving. In order to approach this territory of energy and the notion of comfort by sound, the workshop proposes a pedestrian exploration along a predefined path (method of urban transect). Following principally the water network crossing the Presqu’Île, the chosen itinerary traverse’s underground spaces, riverbanks, spaces under construction and massively monitored closed spaces such as “GreEn-ER”. This primary immersive experience will enable participants to discover the distinctive sono-spatial typology of the site. The approach proposed to the participants will be elaborated by a set of methods, both qualitative and quantitative, which will be regrouped in order to consider the notion of comfort in a wider perspective. After the experience in situ which helps distinguishing the different sonic characteristics of the site, participants are invited to manipulate sound dimension by means of various methods developed at Cresson-AAU: sound recordings, interviews, parametric sound modeling… This combining of immersive sensory dimensions with the subsequent phase of analysis and evaluation bridges the different manifestations of comfort and thus help developing a more holistic vision on this notion. | ||||

Restitution et valorisation de l'atelierEn fin de semaine, un temps sera dédié à la restitution des travaux des participants. A partir de l’exposé des différentes représentations produites au cours de l’atelier, ce moment de ressaisissement visera à explorer (a minima) les trois questions suivantes :
Les participants seront ainsi invités à présenter leurs travaux (les objets et les modes de représentation choisis) en les situant sur une carte du territoire étudié. Nous pouvons imaginer qu’une représentation plurielle de l’environnement sonore le long de ce réseau d’eau prendra ainsi forme progressivement, au fil des apports et des récits de chacun. Idéalement, cette restitution aura lieu à Grenoble INP – bâtiment qui se situe au cœur du site étudié – et sera articulée à un débat public. Outre les participants et les intervenants à l’école d’hiver, y seront conviées les personnes rencontrées sur le site tout au long de la semaine d’investigation et les habitants souhaitant échanger autour de la perception sonore de leur quartier. A la suite de l’Ecole d’Hiver, une valorisation des productions réalisées sera faite sur le site du Réseau International Ambiances et le blog Le Cresson enseigne : école d’hiver sur les ambiances sonores. Les productions sonores pourront être intégrées au site Cartophonies. | Final presentations and evaluationAt the end of the workshop, time will be dedicated to present the undertaken work of participants. This moment of exchange and debate aims to explore (at least) the following three questions:
Participants will be invited to present their work, choose the proper modes of presentation, which seem appropriate, and situate sounds on a map of the study area. We can imagine, therefore, that a collective presentation of the sound environment along the water network will be progressively shaped and constructed by the contributions and the narration of each participant. Ideally, the final presentations will take place in Grenoble INP – located at the center of the Presqu’Île – and will be followed by a public debate. In addition to participants and speakers of the winter school, this moment of exchange will be open to the public: inhabitants, employers and other people wishing to exchange knowledge about the sound perception of their district. After the end of Winter School, the sound productions will be exposed and documented on the bilingual website of the International Ambiances Network and the blog Le Cresson enseigne: winter school on sound environments. Furthermore, the undertaken work can be integrated into the Cartophonies website. | ||||
